Fight the Scale Friday 8/13/10

Hi everyone! :) This has been a really good week. I started focusing on getting more activity, and I ate really well. I tried hummus again this past week and I really like it (just not the garlic flavor with carrots, yuck.) I also found out that a nearby gym is giving away free memberships that last through the end of this year! I am SO getting one! The facility is very nice, they have a cardio theatre, a women's fitness room, a coed room, a dry heat sauna, tanning, and massages! Best of all, the owner is a Christian!

On to the weigh in...

Last week's weight
269.2

This week's weight...
267.2
(-2.0 lbs)
And that is a total of 20 lbs lost since the end of May!!

Make sure to visit Krystal, over at The Clever Mommy Chronicles, and cheer her on as she loses weight!

Fight the Scale Friday 7/9/10

It's been an okay week. I struggled a little bit after the last weigh in, and then I have had severe headaches everyday since last Thursday. But today, the scale was oh, so kind! I'm not going to write as much today, I had a visit to Urgent Care this afternoon and was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection, so I am headed to bed after writing this post!

PLEASE join Krystal and I as we journey to fight the scale and lose weight. We'd love your company!

Last week's weight

277.8

This week's weight...

275.8 (-2.0 lbs)
Running weight loss total -  12.2 lbs since May 27th

Yipee! :) A new low! That was very inspiring this morning!

Tip the Scales Thursday - 1 month weight loss total

Well... This past week was pretty uneventful. I have done great with my eating, got in a little more exercise than usual, and drank a lot of water. But this past week was that certain monthly "hormonal " week, so, there is no telling what the scale is going to do this morning. I have had a big problem with my allergies this past week. I should have lost five pounds just in the liquid constantly draining out of my eyes and nose. (Yuck, sorry.) I am still doing my courses at The Lord's Table, and they are going well. Sometimes I get lazy and don't feel like answering every question, but I push through it anyway and usually end up learning something about myself that I wouldn't have realized had I not made myself be honest and answer those pesky questions!

I was a little bummed this past weekend. I had entered to be a contestant on a new weight loss competition at Win, Lose or Blog, and I was not chosen. There will be more seasons after this initial one, so hopefully I will be a future contestant. Take a minute to check out the blog, and cheer on the ladies who were picked as contestants for this first season. I am sure they will appreciate it!

Now, onward with the weigh-in...

As always,
a reminder of last week's weight
 277.8

And this week's weight is...
(Ack, I don't wanna look!)
 276.5
(-1.3 lbs)
Making a total of 11.4 lbs lost in the past month!!!

Thanks for reading, and PLEASE leave a comment! :)

I need a Christian accountability partner!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (New King James Version)
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.  But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Some of you may know that I was recently delivered from an addiction to food. Food controlled my life. I was putting food before God and it was damaging my health and my relationship with Him. I recently started a course called The Lord's Table and it has really helped me realize my mistakes, and given me great advice and scripture to use against this bondage that I was being held by. My relationship with Christ has grown by leaps and bounds! (And I have lost 12 pounds!)

I am still doing The Lord's Table course to help me continue to overcome this addiction. Today's course suggested I find an accountability partner. The course suggests that this person be a Christian, who is not currently having the same issue. I know that many of you lead very busy lives, and may not have time to help me with this sort of thing, but you may know someone who can. There would not be much involved other than praying for me and being there when I need to talk, or seeking me out to help me stay accountable. All the correspondence could be through email. Or if my partner prefers, some days could be over the phone.

From the course:

Here are some guidelines to follow when you initiate accountability with your partner:
  1. Agree to openness and honesty. Bondage to overeating brings deception with it, and some of us have been deceptive for years. If we want to escape from our slavery to sin, we must start with honesty, even if it is humbling. If your accountability partner asks how you are doing, and you have just fallen into sinful eating, you must honestly admit it.
  2. Agree to prepare and share with your accountability partner your plan for overcoming sinful eating habits. (This means looking for areas of possible temptation and developing a plan to flee them.) Ask your accountability partner to help you by making suggestions to your plan and holding you accountable to it.
  3. Agree to give your partner freedom to ask the hard questions, without taking offense.
  4. Agree to initiate communication daily for the first 30 days, as far as is possible. One important thing to remember is that your partner will, at some point, fail you in some way (Jesus Christ is the only one who will never fail us). It's critical to take the initiative ourselves in providing our accountability reports. Simply get in touch with your partner and say something like, "I’m just letting you know I'm free from overeating today. I exercised and I'm seeking to enjoy the Lord." Don't wait for your partner to ask you questions; initiate the process by keeping him or her informed as to your condition.
As you can see, being my partner would mean having daily contact with me. I am asking that the person(s) who agree to do this be very serious about this. Again from the course:
"My friend, an accountability partner who loves Scripture and cares for your soul should be able to detect when you are about to fall asleep in the land of enchantment—that is, he or she can tell when you're struggling with sinful eating habits. An accountability is there to "wake us up" when we're at risk of falling back into our old ways. This is an indispensable part of finding freedom."
I am praying that God will send this person along my way. I hope that if this seems like it could be you, that you would pray about it first and be sure that this is what God would have you do. Please comment here if you feel like you could help me, or email me at kjrobinette{at}gmail{dot}com. Thanks so much for reading!

Tip the Scales Thursday

Wow, this week was really trying. I did not get in as much activity, but my eating was great. But I got back into one of my old bad habits: scale hopping. And by yesterday morning, it had me discouraged. I kept thinking, "What am I doing wrong?!" But I keep forgetting that every week is not going to be a 3 or 4 lb week. So, plan for this week: NO MORE SCALE HOPPING! (Somebody hide the Wii Fit Board!) And I also plan on getting in more activity. I am working a lot in the evenings, and there is a beautiful park very close to where I work, so I plan on taking my lunch there and getting in a quick mile! Sounds like a plan, don't you think?

The lessons at the Lord's Table have been really encouraging this week. One of the lessons was based on Ephesians Chapter 4:22-24.
" that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness."
So my prayer has been for God to give me strength to leave the old Kimberly, and all of her bad eating habits, behind and put on the NEW me, which God has created righteous and holy!

Okay, so enough rambling, you wanna see a weigh-in, right?? Okay, let's do this!

Just to remind you of last week's weight...

279.3

And this week's weight is...

277.8
Not a huge loss, but hey, it's a loss!
(-1.5 lbs.)

Thanks for stopping by this week, and as always, please leave a comment, it really encourages me!

Tip the Scales Thursday Weekly Weigh-in

This week has been trying. My birthday was Saturday and Christ-Like Daddy took me out for an awesome meal at Olive Garden. (Thanks again to my friend S. for the gift card!) Then on Sunday my parents took us out to a wonderful Italian Cuisine restaurant, where I played it safe with a veggie calzone, and I only ate half, but the waiter found out it was my birthday and brought out a big slab of cheesecake. Between Little Monkey taking a chunk out of it, bare handed, and splitting it with my mom I only ate a few bites. Tuesday my parents had a cookout at their house. We had everything from babyback ribs to kielbasa. It was delish, and I tried to cut down calories by not eating any buns, but there was a lot of grease and salt. I did, however, workout more this week. Monday night I attended a Zumba class with my sister, and worked out on my Wii Fit more than usual. But I wasn't looking for a huge loss this week, cause I can tell I have been retaining some water. But, the scale pleased me this morning. So here we go...

As usual I will start with last week's weight just as a reminder...

And this morning's weight is...
:-D *Insert huge smile here* :-D
I am out of the 280's today!
That is a loss of 2.9 pounds Yippee!

Tip the Scales Thursday Weekly Weigh-in

It has been a good week for weight loss!! Thanks to all of the friends who stopped by last Thursday to offer your encouragement. I have gained a few weight loss buddies, and even joined Laura at Inspiration for Moms for a "lose 10 lbs by the 23rd" challenge! Great motivation!

So without further ado:
This week's weigh-in!
The weight I posted last week (283) was apparently way wrong, I have no idea where I got it from, because when I checked the weight chart on my Wii Fit yesterday I saw the following, so this number stands as last week's weight.

Can I get a drumroll please?
This week's weight is...
WOOT! A loss of 5.7 lbs!
Now, I am sure a lot of that was water because when it comes to retaining water, I am a pro. But still, that is HUGE!

Thanks for stopping by, and if you did drop in just to check out my progress, please comment! Your kind words of encouragement really do help!

I'm struggling...

Struggling with my weight.

In 2007 I lost a huge chunk of weight (50 pounds to be exact). I had so much determination and will power, but now I am just...blah. I keep asking my husband why I can't get motivated, why this is not working and he just shrugs. (Men don't talk much when it comes to a woman's weight, do they?) I know how to count calories, I know how to exercise, and I know it works. I am blessed that I am not one of those women who does everything they can think of and still can't lose weight. I can. When I do the right things, I lose weight, and it comes off fast. But I just can't get back into that "mode". I have tried everything from weight watchers, to the 6 week body makeover, to having an accountability buddy. None of it worked. Sure, it works for some people, but they stuck with it.

For a long time I didn't really care that I was overweight. I just accepted that that was who I was, and went with it. But lately there is a lot of sickness around me and a lot of it is weight/lifestyle related. I am turning 26 in a little over a week, and it scares me to think that I could make myself sick or worse with my poor eating habits.

I cried on the way home from work today. I cried, and cried out to God. I finally realized today why I have not been successful in losing weight this time around. I was going at it alone. I have not once asked God to give me strength during this weight loss journey. In 2007, I prayed daily for God to guide me that day, and to help me make the best choices for my health. I have not asked that of Him once this year!

A couple weeks ago I started what I was calling "Tip the Scales Thursday" to keep myself accountable to the blogging world. I have not posted my weight in the past 3 weeks. I was ashamed, because that 6 pound loss that I had achieved, is gone, I gained it back and I added on 4 more pounds to that. I have gained 10 lbs in 3 weeks.

I know that this is not what most of you want to read when blog hopping, but I had to get this out. My reasons for starting this blog was to better myself, to become more like Christ. And if pouring my heart out to all of the people who read this is how I am going to do it, then so be it.

I ask that you say a special prayer for me. A comment or two of encouragement would be nice as well. I would like to know that I have a lot of readers watching what I am doing every week. And I hope that once this weight does start dropping off, they will see that it was all with the help of the Almighty God.

My weight today, (again) is:
287.9 pounds
BMI: 45.7 - Morbidly Obese
