Bubble Chocolate: A review and giveaway

I was so excited when I learned I was going to be doing a review on Bubble Chocolate. I enjoy chocolate (sometimes a little too much!) so I was excited to try this aerated chocolate!

Bubble Chocolate is made from infusing the chocolate with air at the right temperature and then molding it into bars. Available in 2 varieties, dark and milk chocolate, Bubble Chocolate is sure to satisfy even the pickiest chocolate lover. Bubble Chocolate is all natural; made with the finest, all-natural ingredients.

I recently started watching what I eat and so I was a little nervous when the package arrived at my front door. I have been know to over indulge on chocolate. Six pieces of Bubble Chocolate weighs in at 100-110 calories, so this makes the perfect between meal snack. The flavor is intense enough to satisfy that mid-day chocolate craving without over doing it!

You don't eat Bubble Chocolate the same way you eat any other chocolate. First, I broke off a small square of Bubble Chocolate and let it melt on my tongue, which is an awesome experience. I could actually feel the little bubbles of air popping on my tongue, then it was a total flavor infusion! This is a really great tasting chocolate. It reminds me a lot of chocolate mousse. Yum!

Bubble Chocolate has an awesome website! When you hover over a link you hear a little "pop" which is so fun. They have lots of information about their product on their site which is really helpful for a customer looking for a new chocolate experience!
Bubble Chocolate has graciously offered a bar of each the milk and dark chocolate to FIVE lucky readers! (No PO Boxes, North America Only)

I'm struggling...

Struggling with my weight.

In 2007 I lost a huge chunk of weight (50 pounds to be exact). I had so much determination and will power, but now I am just...blah. I keep asking my husband why I can't get motivated, why this is not working and he just shrugs. (Men don't talk much when it comes to a woman's weight, do they?) I know how to count calories, I know how to exercise, and I know it works. I am blessed that I am not one of those women who does everything they can think of and still can't lose weight. I can. When I do the right things, I lose weight, and it comes off fast. But I just can't get back into that "mode". I have tried everything from weight watchers, to the 6 week body makeover, to having an accountability buddy. None of it worked. Sure, it works for some people, but they stuck with it.

For a long time I didn't really care that I was overweight. I just accepted that that was who I was, and went with it. But lately there is a lot of sickness around me and a lot of it is weight/lifestyle related. I am turning 26 in a little over a week, and it scares me to think that I could make myself sick or worse with my poor eating habits.

I cried on the way home from work today. I cried, and cried out to God. I finally realized today why I have not been successful in losing weight this time around. I was going at it alone. I have not once asked God to give me strength during this weight loss journey. In 2007, I prayed daily for God to guide me that day, and to help me make the best choices for my health. I have not asked that of Him once this year!

A couple weeks ago I started what I was calling "Tip the Scales Thursday" to keep myself accountable to the blogging world. I have not posted my weight in the past 3 weeks. I was ashamed, because that 6 pound loss that I had achieved, is gone, I gained it back and I added on 4 more pounds to that. I have gained 10 lbs in 3 weeks.

I know that this is not what most of you want to read when blog hopping, but I had to get this out. My reasons for starting this blog was to better myself, to become more like Christ. And if pouring my heart out to all of the people who read this is how I am going to do it, then so be it.

I ask that you say a special prayer for me. A comment or two of encouragement would be nice as well. I would like to know that I have a lot of readers watching what I am doing every week. And I hope that once this weight does start dropping off, they will see that it was all with the help of the Almighty God.

My weight today, (again) is:
287.9 pounds
BMI: 45.7 - Morbidly Obese

Prayers for a great friend please...

I met this friend when I first started working at my current job, three and a half years ago. She is a very giving, loving and caring person. I have lots of friends, but very few whom I know would do anything for me. This friend is definitely one of those few.

This morning her father passed away. She came by work to let us know, and the look in her eyes made me so sad. I hate to see anyone hurting, but especially when it is one of the most important people in my life.
Please keep this friend and her family in your prayers!

Give to charity just by searching the internet

A good friend of mine introduced me to this website. You just enter your charity of choice, search on their search engine, and they donate to your cause! Also, if you shop online through this site, a percentage of your purchase go towards your chosen charity! Isn't that awesome?

Limited blogging over the next week...

And this is why...

My laptop screen has been cracked for over a month and it is getting to the point to where it's hard to see on certain webpages. So I called the PC docs (Dell) and they are going to fix it for FREE! (Thank God I signed up for that warranty!) I will be using a friend's netbook this week and so I won't have access to my usual files, and programs. (Oh TweetDeck, How I'll miss you!)

10 from Hearts Make Families

Like Tami, over at Hearts Make Families, I am taggin' everyone who reads this, so grab my list of questions at the bottom and answer them on your blog, then make your own list! Comment if you answered them so I can come read!

The rules:   Answer the questions, come up with 10 more, and tag 7 people. Easy!
  1. Who is your favorite actor or actress in the world? I love Reese Witherspoon
  2. Who do you feel has affected your life the most?  and How? My oldest child. Before him my husband and were both living for ourselves (definitely not for God) after he was born my husband and I both straightened up and decided to live for God, and make it worthwhile!
  3. Do you look on top of high furniture for dust mites? I don't even look on low furniture for dust mites! lol
  4. What color is your mailbox? Black. Boriiiing!
  5. What is the ring tone on your cell phone for your significant other? "Don't stop, believin', Hold on to that feelin'"
  6. Is your hair straight or curly? Wavy. But straight when I use my flat iron!
  7. What curse word do you use most when you are upset?  (You don’t have to spell it out if you don’t want too.) I don't curse, as a matter of fact, cursing is my BIGGEST pet peeve!
  8. Does anything hurt on your body? My legs, I need to invest in some more comfortable shoes. (And lose a few pounds)
  9. What is your biggest pet peeve? Ha ha, I already mentioned it, but cursing. Especially if the person is doing it in public or (eek!) on social networking sites. So not classy!
  10. Why did you name your blog what you did? My blog is named Christ-Like Mommy because I want to be more like Christ, and sometimes that is challenging, especially while trying to be a mommy! :)

Now, go answer my questions on your blog! Don't forget to comment!

1. What color is your shower curtain? Does it match the rest of your bathroom?
2. Did you attend church today?
3. What made you decide to start blogging?
4. What is your all-time favorite movie?
5. When was the last time you washed your car?
6. Are you a vegetarian? If so, what is your fave veggie dish?
7. Where was your favorite vacation?
8. How much time do you spend on social networking sites per day? (Be honest!)
9. Do you make anything by hand?
10. Who is the last person you kissed?

Bible Verse of the Week - Pentecost Sunday

Acts 2:1-4 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Aren't you so glad that this comforter was sent to guide and help us? We have all experienced a time when we needed comfort. Whether it be fear, anxiety, or loneliness, this comforter, the Holy Spirit is there for us. The Holy Spirit also helps to bring back things to our remembrance, things such as scripture when we our trying to encourage a brother or sister in a time of need! The Holy Ghost is also described as a counselor, teacher, & an empowerer!
Thank You God for sending this comforter to us!

A new saint in heaven today...

Christyn Joy Patterson aka Chrissie went to be with God this morning. She had open heart surgery back on April 19th and has since touched the heart of probably thousands of people. This little girl showed so many people how great our God really is, but today, God decided she had endured enough and took her to be at home with Him in heaven. Please pray for this family as they deal with this loss of life!

Read more about Chrissie here.

Praise God, Grandma is coming home today!

Wow, isn't God great!! She just had a heart attack on Sunday night, and she gets to come home today! I can't wait to see her, I haven't gotten to go see her since Monday because I am sick with a cold! Thanks to everyone who prayed! I am so excited!
(My uncle was also admitted yesterday, and he got discharged today as well!)

iFellowship link up @ Seeds of Faith!

I am very excited to be a participant in this new meme hosted by Seeds of Faith! Please take a minute to check out the information below and link up!
Seeds Of Faith For The Christian Mom
 What is iFellowship?

iFellowship was created by the team at Seeds Of Faith. We wanted all the christian moms out there to have a place to get to know each-other and well, just fellowship! After all, we're called to fellowship with one another. (1st Corinthians 1:9 "God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.")

So, every Wednesday at midnight, there will be a linky tool provided for every Christian mom (or mom to be) to post their links to their blogs, twitter accounts, and facebook accounts.

In addition, we will choose a blog each week (using random.org) to be our featured blog for the following week's linky. You will get a top notch spot in the bloghop. If you want to have a chance to be featured, all we ask is that you place our iFellowship button on the front page of your blog so we can quickly see it when we manually visit each blog.

*Note: You do not have to place the iFellowship button on your front page to participate in this bloghop. Only if you want a chance to have an early spot in the next week's bloghop.

So what do I do to participate?
  1. Follow our blog, Seeds Of Faith.
  2. Grab the McLinky code and make a post on your blog about iFellowship, so more people can join in the fun! Also grab the iFellowship button above.
  3. Add your blog name and link to the McLinky below.
  4. Check out some of the blogs on the list and follow ones you like. Leave a comment to let them know you're from iFellowship.
  5. If someone follows your blog, follow them back to keep the fellowship going.
  6. That's it! Visit and follow as few or as many blogs, twitter pages, and facebook pages as you'd like!

Homeschool Preparation - Ack!

I have been vigorously researching homeschooling curriculum, styles, etc. for the past few weeks. I have checked out lots of homeschooling books from the library. It is a little overwhelming! I am not sure what is going to work for us, but seeing as I work out of home part time I think that we are going to go with more of a school-at-home approach. I have been looking at a lot of different curriculum packages. Just to name a few; AlphaOmega: Horizons Preschool, Calvert School Pre-Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum, and because it is so cost effective, ABC Home Preschool for 4 to 6 year olds. I am very new to this, my sister and I both attended public school and I am only really familiar with one homeschooling family (who I, might I add, absolutely LOVE!) I guess I am mainly concerned with finding a schedule that works for us, and it seems the curricula I listed all have a "schedule" already made out for the users. We have been doing some informal homeschooling from some workbooks I bought at BAM. But starting in August or September I would like to start a formal homeschool program with Little Bear so he is fully prepared for "Kindergarten".

I would love to hear some feedback and/or advice!

My new blog look!

I decided to start trying to learn how to design my own blog. I like to change stuff around like I change my, well, you know... So, this is it! I wasn't going to use this one but my hubby insists that it is good enough. What do you think? Not all links, etc., are functional just yet, but bear with me! Don't forget to grab my NEW button! :)

Update on Granny...

She had a heart catheterization and the doctor placed 3 stents. Afterwards she said she felt much better. Thanks for all the prayers!

Please pray for my grandma!

My grandma is most definitely one of the most important people in my life. She is the backbone of our family. She is a prayer warrior, and I believe half of the people in my family wouldn't be alive if it were not for her prayers! She was taken to the hospital last night, then transferred to a bigger hospital. It has just been confirmed that she did have a heart attack and the docs are taking her in for a heart catheterization. PLEASE pray for her!

We love you Gran-Gran and we are praying for you!

Bible Verse of the Week - Fear Not

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
'Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'
It is so easy to let fear slip into our life. The thing about fear is, it's not natural. God did not create us to have fear. Fear is negative faith, it works against what God wants to do for us. When we are afraid of something, we lose our faith over that situation becoming resolved, or getting better. We should try to wake up every morning with the thought that fear is not going to help us, only hinder what God can do for us. Remember that all things work together for the good of those who love God. Love God and remember that HE is our God and he will uphold us with His righteous right hand!

Fun in the Sun!

After the rough winter we had, we were so excited to get out and do some splashing today! I bought a cheapy plastic pool from the dollar store today. It took me about 12 trips in and out of the kitchen to fill it up (we don't have a water hose for some reason!). The boys had a blast! (Besides the fact that they had no water toys!) At one point Little Bear looked at me and said, "Mommy, we need toys."

Here are a few pics!

Strawberries!

We love strawberries. Well most of us do, my hubby is a very picky eater.
So I guess I should have said, me and the kids love strawberries. (I know, poor grammar, right?)
Anyway, We bought some from a local farm and started munching on them today.
I love Spring!

And I had to add a picture of the mess strawberry juice that Little Monkey made!

Some awesome footage of yesterday's tornadoes

Call me crazy, but I am a tornado fanatic. I am amazed by tornadoes and everything about a storm. Here is a video of yesterday's tornadoes in OK. I have seen lots of tornado footage and this short footage absolutely stunned me! I have never seen tornadoes pop up and down the way these were doing!

Wordless Wednesday - Pre-K Homeschooling

If you have been following me for any length of time (longer than a week), then you know my wordless Wednesdays are hardly wordless!

My husband and I have talked about homeschooling for a couple years, and now that our oldest son is 4 years old and at that Pre-K bridge, we are trying out homeschool for his preschool year to see how it is going to work for us. So far, so good. He is excited about learning and is a great student. Today he was so attentive and tried extra hard to please mommy, and of course, he did! I proudly posted this worksheet on my fridge, and I am sure it is only the first of many more to come!

There are some major storms rolling through the mid-west this evening through tonight. Please keep everyone in your prayers! Bible Verse of the Week - Where are your treasures?

I posted a question on Facebook today. "Kimberly wonders how people who base their happiness only on their possessions really stay happy?" It seems that all around us people have to have the latest cell phone, biggest house or nicest vehicle to be happy. But are they truly happy? I have been troubled lately because I hear of friends that just have to have this or that, but I know they are lacking the most important necessity. Jesus.

A good friend of mine, Jenny,  who has been in my life on and off for, well, forever, quoted a verse out of the Bible;

"Matthew 6:21 - (NKJV) - For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Are your only treasures here on earth? Is your heart dedicated
to this world and all it has to offer? If so, ask yourself why?
 OR
Are you laying up treasures for your home above? The home where one day
you will spend eternity. I plan on spending my eternity with Jesus Christ.

So think about it this week. Are you letting your material possessions capture your heart, or is Christ the sole capture? Because at the end of this life, you can't take those material possessions with you. And if that is all you have based your life and your happiness on, then what will YOU be left with?

Have a blessed week!

My Love Story... Part II

If you haven't read part I, click here!

So, our courtship began. Our first date was a different first date than most. I met him at our supercenter, and we visited the new supercenter that had been built across town. Romantic, huh? We spent a whole lot of time together while we were dating. Besides the fact that we worked together, we saw each other before and after work and on our days off. In July of 2004, we spent some time apart. We had a "lover's" spat, and didn't really talk for about a week. But we both missed each other so much that we ended up back together. I couldn't have been happier. You know that saying, "you don't know what you got 'til it's gone"? Well, I didn't know, or maybe I did, but had taken it for granted.

In September 2004, we decided we wanted to get married. One night after we got off work, I hopped in CLD's truck and he drove me back to the parking spot where we had talked the first night we met. Then and there, he proposed to me! He didn't have a ring, but I didn't care! I was getting married! It didn't take long for me to share the news with everyone. We set our date for May 7, 2005.

The rest of the story tomorrow!

Tip the Scales Thursday

Well here it is, Tip the Scales Thursday! I have to say, this past week has been very productive. I have worked out almost everyday. A couple days I went over my caloric limit, but other days I didn't even get close, so I guess it kinda balanced out. The linky wasn't exactly popular last week, so we will skip that this week. Just leave a comment here if you decide you are going to weigh-in with me on Thursdays!

This week's weight: 278
(-4 from last week!)
So that is a total of 6 lbs lost since April 23!
WOW! I can do this!
Philippians 4:13 -
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

My Love Story... 5 Years and Counting...

My husband and I will be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary this coming Friday.
I feel like we have accomplished a great feat.
We are still in love, and growing more in love every day.
So in celebration, I am recounting our story... From day one.

Christ-Like Daddy (CLD) and I met six and a half years ago while working together at the local supercenter. I was always the bold type when it came to guys. I would approach them, and let them know how I felt (or didn't feel!). But the very first time I ever saw CLD, I was crushed. Love at first sight? Probably. I can't explain it any other way. I spent most every shift looking for him, watching for him to walk by so I could grin at him and try to obtain his attention. Well, CLD was not your typical male. I could have done cartwheels, jumping jacks and back-flips in front of him and he would not have been phased. As the days went by I became more and more obsessed with interested in him. I had gotten bold enough to say hi, or even whistle at him. The one night I finally decided to strike up a conversation my face was green and I was wearing a pointy hat. It was Halloween. We had a short conversation, I am not sure I even remember the content. I do, however, remember trying my best to flatter him, and watching him walk away, utterly impressed at how modest he was! (Which was a far cry from the past, ahem, boys I had dated.)

On the night of November 3rd, 2003, I decided that I was going to work (I was off that night) and track down CLD and at least give him my phone number. I got to the store, looked at the schedule, and learned that he too was off that day! I was so disappointed. So, I left. I exited through a different door than I entered, and started walking down the sidewalk to my car. As I was walking, I looked at a car driving by, and guess who was driving?! CLD! I told him to go park his car. So he did. While I waited for him to walk back to where I was standing, my mind was racing! What do I say, how do I look... Turns out he was (and is) a great conversationalist. We chatted that night for six hours in the middle of the parking lot. At the end of that night, he politely informed me that I was "officially off the market."

Come back tomorrow evening for more of the story!

Why, hello there little onion. . .

And lettuce! I am so proud! I know, I am a long ways from eating a luscious salad...
But lookit!

Motherhood is enjoying every moment...

This photo is from a family shoot we had last year. We were at a park and we were waiting for the fountains to come on so we could get some shots in front of the water. Our photographer took some photos while we were waiting and the photos captured us, the real us! Not posed, or fake smiles, all real! Those photos were some of my favorites from the day! The one below is of me and my oldest son. Pure joy!

My aunts nephew was in a terrible motorcycle accident. He is currently in a coma at the University of KY hospital. The outlook is not great right now, but I know my God can heal him!

Are you a scale hopper?

I am a self proclaimed scale hopper. My scale is usually sitting in the middle of the bathroom floor, so every time I am in there, I step on. I have heard that one who is trying to lose weight shouldn't weigh but once a week because it is easier to become discouraged seeing your weight fluctuate daily. (But then I have also read the opposite, that you should weigh multiple times a week for motivation) Either way, I weigh myself a lot. Especially when I am dieting, which is always. I have been better about it this week, particularly since my scale battery is dying and it just reads "LOW" every time I step on. And I normally don't have time to drag all the Wii equipment out just to weigh myself. But this morning I did. And now, I am with those who say once a week. I have lost 5 pounds this week!! It is much more gratifying to see one BIG number than a bunch of tiny ones! So, here's to no more scale hopping!

Bible Verse of the Week - Be Still...

Psalm 46:10 (New King James Version)

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

Be still...

This verse has been ringing in my ears this afternoon. Today was Pastor's Appreciation Day at my church, and it seemed like everything was rush-rushed all morning. I realized when I got home, that I didn't leave much time for God this morning. Sure, I went to church, sang along with the hymns, sang a song for my pastor and then listened to the sermon. But the whole time my mind was racing! The actual appreciation service was to take place at the end of the church service and I was concentrating on how it would play out.

How many times do we go through our day and have so much on our minds that we fail to be still, and give him praise, or thanksgiving? I am so guilty today. I had to apologize to God, I was more caught up in what was going on around me at church than what was going on in me. This week, let's take time to be still, no matter what is going on around us, and know that He is God!
